Dean's Letter for Tufts Medicine

Deans Letter for Tufts MedicineOverview:
The Dean’s Letter for Tufts Medicine was launched in June 2005 to enhance internal communications at the School of Medicine and the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences. It addresses a priority of Dean Mike Rosenblatt to provide additional communications to his internal constituencies and to reach out to the 5,200 unpaid clinical faculty members who teach our medical students and are based at 15 Tufts-affiliated hospitals throughout New England. The e-letter serves as an adjunct to the school magazine, Tufts Medicine , which is published three times a year, and to the Tufts Journal , which is published monthly.

Each issue contains items drawn from the following areas: school priorities; faculty awards, honors and accolades; student achievement; upcoming events and lectures of note; advancement news; alumni news and successes. The items contain links to appropriate websites, as warranted. The e-letter also serves as an Advancement tool. In addition to contributing fund-raising news items, the medical development and alumni relations staff provides copies to potential donors and alumni as a way of showing off the amazing work being done at Tufts.

Others who receive the Dean’s Letter are those folks outside the Tufts Medicine community who have asked to receive it. They include the deans of the other Tufts schools, central administration, including the president, provost and vice presidents, Advancement folks and anyone else who goes online and subscribes.

Circulation:
The publication appears as a PDF on the Medical School website every six weeks throughout the year and is announced via a push e-mail to the medical and Sackler school communities and other subscribers.

In addition to the Letter being distributed electronically to the medical and Sackler school communities through an e-list of all full-time and clinical faculty, students, staff and administration, we also print 3,000 copies of each issue that are mailed to the 15 affiliated hospitals for distribution in their cafeterias, waiting areas, etc.
